Western Mare Frigoris/
Northwestern Limb
The region leading towards the Moon's northwestern
limb is marked by numerous large craters, including Babbage,
Pythagoras, J. Herschel, South, Anaximander,
Carpenter, Anaximenes, Poncelet and Philolaus,
each with a diameter greater than 60 kilometers. The western
segment of Mare Frigoris bisects the center portion of the
photograph, with Sinus Iridium (bottom center) and Mare
Iridium (lower right) dominate the bottom portion.
