Northern Mare Serenitatis
With Mare Serenitatis dominating most of
the region, the sector also features several intriguing
formations, including Crater Posidonius (near the top of
the photo), Crater le Monnier (the dark, semi-circular spot
slightly south of Posidonius) and the sinuous Dorsa Smirnov
(the snake-like formation running north to south at the center of
the photo).
