Full Moon Atlas: Sector E-5
Sinus Asperitatis West
The rugged area west of Sinus Asperitatis
(at center along the right edge of the photograph) and Mare
Tranquillitatis (upper right corner) includes the large
craters Hipparchus and Albategnius (near the
left-center edge). The landing site of Apollo 16 — the
next to last visit to the Moon by an Apollo mission — is located
virtually at the center of the photo, slightly northeast of tiny Crater
Dollond.
