Longomontanus-Schiller/
Southwestern Limb
The extreme southwestern edge of the Moon is
primarily a vast crater field highlighted by several prominent
formations, including Schickard (upper left corner of the
photograph), Longomontanus (near the upper right corner), Schiller
(the elongated crater near center) and Scheiner (near the
edge at right center). A trio of noteworthy craters — Wargentin,
Nasmyth and Phocylides — are clustered south of
Schickard.
